The majority of LANXESS’s stockholders are institutional investors whose strategy is oriented toward growth or value. At January 31, 2014, these investors held around 89% of the stock.
In addition to the stakes held by institutional investors, a holding of around 11% of our shares is in the hands of private investors and LANXESS employees, who collectively own some 1%. These investors are primarily located in Germany.
Most of our institutional investors are located in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. At January 31, 2014, the proportion of our stockholders in the United States was around 27% (2012: around 29%). The proportion of our stockholders in Germany was unchanged compared to the previous year, at around 24%. Ownership of our shares in the United Kingdom declined to around 17% (2012: around 19%).
Institutional investors in other regions, especially other European countries, slightly increased their share to 32% (2012: around 31%). Here, LANXESS is represented in France, the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland, in particular.
